Esperanza Reborn is the moving story of a young girl who learns the importance of love and sacrifice for family members and friends. It is also a lesson about the cultural challenges faced by families living in poverty, especially immigrant and farmworker families.
The novel takes place on a large ranch in the state of Aguascalientes, Mexico, one of the places with the most revolutionary activity just a decade earlier, and in the fields of migrant farm workers near Arvin, California.
In the opening chapters of the novel, students are introduced to the different social classes dividing Mexico in the early twentieth century, a social class system that, much like that of the United States, was based not only on social status and education, but also on economic status and race. In the early decades of the 20th century, the vast majority of Mexicans were dissatisfied with the unequal distribution of wealth and land, as well as the lack of opportunities to participate in the country’s political and electoral process. Lindsay-Abaire and Jason Moore (director) began working on the show in 2002, with Tesori as part of the team since 2004.[3] A script reading took place on August 10, 2007, with Stephen Kramer Glickman in the title role, Celia Keenan-Bolger as Princess Fiona, Robert L. Kimhan and Mookarin were engaged to be married, but a tragedy destroyed their happiness. Kimhan’s sister Mon was found dead and her husband Tada, Mook’s brother, was accused of killing her.
The case went to court and Tada was acquitted with Mook taking the stand as his brother’s alibi and Mon’s death was ruled an accident. Kimhan was furious that his sister’s killer went free and Mook lied to help acquit his brother.
If the law could not punish Tada, Kimhan would do it himself, so he vowed revenge. He actively pursued Tada and broke off his engagement to Mook. In pursuing his revenge, he caused a lot of pain to Tada, Mook and other innocent people.
However, despite everything, neither Kimhan nor Mook could forget their love for each other. They were filled with conflicting feelings of love, hatred, revenge and loyalty as they and the people around them get caught up in Kimhan’s whirlwind of revenge.
